This concept uses only Transmission UP shift and Transmission DOWN shift inputs - combined with vehicle speed and brake status - to manage all gear selections safely and intuitively.

DCT shifter mounted in a 8HP45 equipped vehicle instead of the stock BMW 535 shifter.
•From Neutral: double-tap DOWN → Park, double-tap UP → Manual.
•Single DOWN from Neutral → Reverse; single UP → Drive.
•From Park: UP → Manual, DOWN → Reverse.
•Unsafe shifts (e.g., into Park/Reverse) are blocked.
•In forward gears, UP/DOWN issue manual up/down shift requests.
•Double-tap UP toggles between Drive and Manual.
•Holding UP beyond a configurable time enables launch control input and/or transbrake depending on settings.
•Automatically disables when the input is released.
•Benefit: Minimal hardware (two inputs) with clear, consistent behavior. Double-tap toggling and hold-to-launch provide quick access to advanced modes while built-in speed/brake rules enforce safety at all times.
